Carmen Gonzalez, MSN, FNP-C, is a family nurse practitioner, board-certified by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. She graduated with her BSN from Prairie View A&M University and has over 16 years of clinical experience. She has also worked as a Registered Nurse, in ER, trauma, and CVICU. She was a Lieutenant Commander in the US Navy Nurse Corp, finishing her last tour in Afghanistan prior to completing 22 years of service. She obtained her graduate degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston and has gained experience as an advanced practice provider in emergency medicine, pediatric/adult primary care, and urgent care services.
Carmen grew up in Houston but is originally from Central America and is fluent in Spanish. She believes that the core values instilled in her from the US Navy (honor, courage and commitment) are key to providing the best care to her patients. She believes that patients should be knowledgeable about their condition, so she teaches and has patients collaborate in their care. Her interest in allergy and asthma arose after treating such issues in the urgent care acute setting. She is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and the American Association of Pediatrics. In her spare time, Carmen enjoys traveling and spending time with her dogs.
